PanOptix IOL

ACRYSOF PANOPTIX® IOL

PanOptix IOL are innovative trifocal lenses that offer you the thrill of delivering a level of refractive performance that breaks free from tradition. The PanOptix IOL is equipped with advanced Enlighten Optical Technology, a proprietary design that optimizes intermediate without compromising exceptional near and distance vision.

HOW DOES THE ACRYSOF PANOPTIX® IOL WORK?

The unique diffractive structure allows the lens to transmit 88% of light to the retina at a 3mm pupil size for exceptional high light utilization. Featuring a 4.5mm diffractive zone, Enlighten Optical Technology helps reduce dependence on pupil size in different lighting conditions. To create Enlighten Optical Technology and to make it possible to achieve 20/20 near, intermediate, and distance vision, our manufacturer Alcon re-envisioned multifocal performance.

First, they created an additional focal point at 120cm. Then they redirected the new focal point’s light energy, to distance. This created three optimally placed focal points: one at 40cm near, one at a 60cm intermediate, and at distance. The result is visual performance that breaks free from tradition.

Preparing to Implant the AcrySof® PanOptix® IOL Trifocal Lens

Resources developed specifically for PanOptix® IOL surgeons help ensure accurate outcomes during the implantation process.

  • Start by using the provided theoretically derived A-constant of 119.1, from the PanOptix® product labeling.

  • Globally Optimized in ORA SYSTEM® Technology

  • Its highly recommended to personalize your Lens Constant.

  • Consider dedicating one person from your practice to complete biometry measurements specifically for your first 5 bilateral patients to ensure consistency.

  • Consider using the same biometer to measure every time.

  • In targeting for PanOptix®, it is recommended that surgeons target emmetropia. In selecting IOL powers, it is recommended to select a power that predicts a post-operative spherical equivalent of plano to the first minus.

  • Use modern formulas, such as Barrett Universal II or Hill-RBF, from the chart below that take into account your patient’s anatomy.

What Might You Expect After You Have Cataract Surgery With AcrySof® PanOptix® IOL Trifocal Lens?

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Do not evaluate your vision until you have had surgery in both eyes. It is very difficult for your brain to accept the difference in the vision between your two eyes until they can work together and adjust to your new vision.

  • You may see some glare and halos around lights after surgery. These usually improve within a few months.

  • You can expect to see well and read comfortably in different lighting conditions.

  • Your range of vision should be excellent and with time will adjust. Have patience.

Your Vision. Your Future.

The lens you choose matters. While a monofocal lens can help you see far away, the PanOptix® Lens gives you a full range of vision, so that you can immerse in a full range of activities—all while relying less on glasses.

How often should I visit my ophthalmologist?

If you have a history of eye disease, we recommend making regular appointments and following up as your ophthalmologist advises. Call now for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Can I bring a friend with me to my ophthalmologist appointment?

You are always welcome to bring a friend or family member with you to your appointments.  An extra set of ears is always helpful so you don’t forget any important information your ophthalmologist goes over with you during your appointment.

How do I know if I should schedule an ophthalmologist appointment?

If you are having eye discomfort or trouble with your vision, schedule an appointment with your ophthalmologist. Health conditions, like high blood pressure or diabetes, increase your risk for certain diseases. If you have questions or think you might need to see an ophthalmologist, call for more information.

Do your ophthalmologists have tips on how I can protect my eyes?

Don’t forget to wear protective eyewear during activities like mowing the grass, doing construction work, or playing sports.  If you wear contacts, take steps to prevent eye infections. Wash your hands before handling your contacts or touching your eyes, and be sure to replace them regularly.

When should I arrive at my ophthalmologist appointment?

We ask that you arrive at your eye appointment fifteen minutes early. That gives you time to fill out any necessary paperwork before your appointment with your doctor.

What should I bring for my ophthalmologist appointment?

You will need to bring your insurance information. If you have a referral from your primary care physician, please have that with you if you haven’t already sent it to us. And lastly, bring a list of all medications you are taking.

Can your ophthalmologists perform LASIK? What can I expect?

One of our most popular procedures at Spectrum Eye Institute is LASIK surgery. An outpatient procedure, LASIK surgery corrects the vision of patients who are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism. Call now for more information or to see if LASIK might be right for you.

Does your ophthalmologist office offer cosmetic services?

Though ophthalmologists are known for medically necessary services, we also offer cosmetic procedures and services to help you look and feel your best. We offer Botox Cosmetic treatments that smooth deep wrinkles and crows’ feet around your eyes. Call our offices for more information and to schedule a consultation.
